Obs.:  Laudromat é, na verdade, uma marca cujo nome passou a ser usado para se referir às lavanderias automáticas (de autoatendimento), num fenômeno análogo ao que aconteceu com a marca Xerox com relação às fotocópias e fotocopiadoras. 
Este uso do nome de uma marca para respresentar o produto é uma forma de metonímia (figura de palavras).
