A meu ver, pelo menos, veganos e animalistas em geral devem defender o direito à vida também dos bebês de nossa espécie que ainda estão no útero, afinal, somos todos animais, filhos da Natureza Primordial.
Somos todos "earthlings', terráqueos, simplesmente seres senscientes, e devemos celebrar a diversidade das formas de ser e defender seus direitos, mesmo antes de nascer!
Cabe ressaltar aqui que entendo e apoio o direito da mãe que corre risco de morte com a gravidez poder escolher ou não levá-la adiante. E também reconheço o mesmo direito nos casos cuja gravidez é consequência de estupro, sendo que, já alguns anos, há pílulas que evitam a fecundação do óvulo pelo esperma, se dadas até 72 horas após o terrível incidente (ou mesmo em casos em que a mulher tenha se descuidado e queira evitar a gravidez de forma bioética). Há médicos que dizem talvez ser possível até cinco dias após o ato mas isto já é polêmico e deve ser evitado, ainda mais se for possível a vítima do estupro (ou a mulher que descuidou-se da prevenção) ter acesso às tais pílulas (morning after pills) que evitam a fecundação dentro do prazo citado inicialmente. Já fiz postagens sobre estas substâncias aqui no blog, por sinal.
